Adoration of God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit 
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for who You are and also for Your amazing love! Lord
Your names are Yaweh Tsebaoth translated “The LORD of hosts”; David said to Goliath in
II Samuel 17:45, “I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts; we bow to Your sovereign rule.
We bow down to You Jehovah for You are mighty; You said to the Israelites in Exodus 6:6, “I am the
LORD…I will free you…I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment;
Holy Father You have demonstrated Your might in so many ways and we join the songwriter who wrote,
“what a mighty God we serve, what a mighty God we serve; angels bow before Him, heaven and earth
adore Him, what a mighty God we serve”; we magnify You for Your mighty deeds!
Another “M” word that describes You is the word majestic; Moses writes in Exodus 15:11, “who among
the gods is like You, Oh LORD? Who is like You – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working
wonders? The hymn writer declares, “so exalt, lift up on high the Name of Jesus, magnify, come glorify,
Christ Jesus the King, Majesty, worship His Majesty, Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all Kings.” The
Apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 2:10,11 “that at the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow…every
tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is LORD”; we praise You for Your majesty!
What makes You so amazing God is that You are merciful; Paul reminds us that we serve a God who is
rich in mercy; it’s David who says, “The LORD is gracious, full of compassion, slow to anger and of great
mercy (Psalm 145:8); Selah recorded the song which says, “wonderful, merciful Savior, precious
Redeemer and friend, who would have thought that a Lamb could rescue the souls of men, oh you
rescue the souls of men.” Jeremiah declares in Lamentations 3:22 that “it is because of the Lord’s
mercies that we are not consumed because His compassions fail not; LORD we worship You for Your
great mercy!
Father we adore You for being magnificent which is defined as “impressively beautiful, elaborate,
extravagant, extremely good and excellent;” Lord You are all that and more! At Christmas we sing,
“Gloria in excelsis Deo” which means, “glory to God in the highest!” Your magnificence is noted in Psalm
9:2 which says, “I will be glad & rejoice in thee; I will sing praise to thy name, Oh thou most High!”
What other “M” words describe specific character traits of our great God?
Confession – as the high and Holy One of Israel we admit our failures and our willful sins to You!
Oh Lord we ask You to forgive the malicious and blasphemous way in which we speak of You in our
culture; Your Holy name is desecrated constantly by young and old; please forgive the way we use Your
name as an expletive instead honoring and respecting it; please forgive us for our malicious speech.
Father forgive us for majoring on the minors and giving minimal time to things of major importance;
even in Your church we get busy doing things “for” You instead of being the salt and light You have
called us to be; teach us how to spend our time and energies on the eternal rather than fretting so much
about the temporal; help us “set our affections on things above and not things of this earth” (Matthew
6:33).
How often we miss the little things that You do for us every day. Psalm 103:2 says to “bless the Lord, O
my soul and forget none of His benefits”; so often Your blessings are overlooked because we are so busy
and engrossed with our daily schedules that we fail to bless You and magnify Your Holy name.
God it is so easy to become men-pleasers and be captivated by man’s opinions & focus on that which is
temporal leaving the eternal things unattended. Paul said, “do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased
men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10); forgive us for being men-pleasers.
Oh Lord, we are so sorry we as American Christians give mixed messages to unbelievers by the priorities
of our lives. We get caught up in the same frenetic lifestyles and schedules failing to show lives of peace
and purpose; forgive us for the confusion we bring to a lost world by failing to “let our lights shine
before men so they can see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14).
What other “M” words describe our sins in our churches and our culture?
Thanksgiving – Lord we are so grateful for the things You do for us every day! – II Samuel 22:1-24
Supplication – Heavenly Father we know that You are attuned to hear and answer our prayers!
Adoration – loving Father we worship You for Your amazing faithfulness and unfailing love!
Your name Yaweh Tsuri means “The LORD my Rock”; Psalm 144:1 says, “Praise be to the LORD my Rock,
who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle”; Father You truly are our spiritual rock and cornerstone.
It’s wonderful to know that You are the God who is very near; Paul reminds the people on Mars Hill that
they should “seek God . . . though He is not far from each one of us for in Him we live and move and have
our being.” Lord, it is comforting to know that You are near to us in all kinds of situations and
circumstances.
Another “N” word is needless; Oh God You have need of nothing; You are the all sufficient one and the
source of everything that brings meaning and purpose to our lives; You own the cattle on a thousand hills
the wealth in every mine; we worship and adore You today because You allow us to share in Your riches!
Your ways are noble and good; Paul says in Romans 11:33, “Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom
and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are Your judgments and Your ways past finding out!” David says
in Psalm 8:9, “O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth”; we worship Your noble nature.
Oh God, You are the true north of our earthly lives; You have engineered our compasses to automatically
gravitate in Your direction; in Isaiah 14:13 we read that You “sit on Your throne located above the stars . . .
in the ‘sides of the north’”; You direct boat captains through stormy seas and airline pilots across the vast
expanses of Your celestial heavens; we truly can count on You to lead us through uncertain futures and
turbulent times and “we will dwell in the house of the LORD forever”; we long to come home to You Oh God!
Heavenly Father You are the notable author of everything; Luke records how the rulers, elders and scribes of
Jerusalem were baffled by the works of Peter and John and said, “what shall we do with these men for a
notable miracle has been done by them . . . and we cannot deny it” (Acts 4:16); You defy our understanding!
Are there any other “N” words that more aptly describe God for you?
Confession – we are well aware of our faults and our sin is ever before us!
Father we confess to being hopelessly naïve in our knowledge of the human heart; Jeremiah reminds us that
“the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked”; in Noah’s day You “saw that the wickedness
of man was great in the earth and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually;
Dear God, please forgive us for being neglectful; The Apostle James said, “to him that knows to do good and
doesn’t do it, to him it is sin” (James 4:17); please forgive us for failing to do the things that we should;
forgive us for being too busy to pray; too busy to read and study Your Word; too busy to minister to the
needs of hurting people; too busy to worship and adore You with our hearts and lives; we are just TOO
BUSY!
Oh Lord, forgive us for the nominal Christianity that is present in much of the American church today; there
is too much limited and shallow commitment to Your Great Commission; it’s customary for believers to be
wholly committed to other things and allow the spiritual life to slide; please forgive us for our nonchalant
ways.
Oh God forgive us for nit-picking and finding fault with others; Jesus said, “How can you say to your brother,
Let me take the speck out of your eye and behold the log is in your own eye. You hypocrite, first take the log
out of your own eye and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
Father we confess to nursing grudges towards those who have hurt us instead of forgiving them; we hold
onto hurts failing to realize how we disobey Ephesians 4:32 which says “to forgive one another as You for
Christ’s sake have forgiven us “; help us not to hold on to hurts but release them to You.
What other “N” words describe the sins we are guilty of in our churches and in our country?
Thanksgiving – We are grateful for the way You provide so bountifully ! – Psalm 136
Adoration – Oh Father, may importunity mark our prayer life as we lift up Your Holy name!
Dear Father, we love the name Yaweh Roi which means “The LORD is my Shepherd;” You are the One
who watches over us day and night while feeding and leading us safely in paths of righteousness.
The word omniscient helps us understand that You know everything; there is nothing You need to learn;
there is nothing that we can bring to You that You do not already know; Father we worship You because
You are all knowing but You still want us to bring our requests and praise before Your throne.
Another word that describes Your character is open; You never are closed to us but say things like, “come
unto me, all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28); Isaiah 55:3 says,
“Incline your ear and come unto me; hear and your soul shall live.” Thanks for being open!
Omnipotent is the word we use to describe Your incredible power; The Apostle John writes in Revelation
19:6, “Alleluia for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth”; Jesus reminds us that “all power is given unto Him
in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18); we worship You for You truly are the Almighty God!
Lord God we recognize You as the original and the prophet Zephaniah says “there is none beside thee”;
You are the first and the last and we bow before You today and honor you for who You are; the hymn
writer says it well when he writes, “To all life Thou givest, to both great and small; In all life Thou livest,
the true life of all; We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, And wither and perish, but nought
changeth thee”; You are the source of everything that is; we worship You for being an original!
Oh God You are omnipresent and not limited to time and space; the Psalmist records, “Where can I go
from your presence . . . if I ascend to heaven, You are there” (Psalm 139:7,8); Father we are so glad that
we can never be in a place where you are not available and waiting to hear our heart’s cry!
What other “O” words describe the nature and character of God for you?
Confession – When we understand who You really are we cry out “Woe is me for I am undone!”
Father we confess to being oblivious to your grace; You pour out blessing after blessing and we fail to see
how very good and kind You really are; we grumble and complain at the slightest difficulty we face; please
forgive us for our griping and murmuring; help us overcome our oblivious ways!
I’m sure our obnoxious attitudes make you sad; we cry out with the Psalmist who says, “Create in me a
clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10); forgive us for our obnoxious ways!
Another word that describes us is obstinate; Jeremiah describes us perfectly when he writes, “they
obeyed not, neither inclined their ear but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear nor receive
instruction” (Jeremiah 17:23); The hymn writer says, “prone to wonder, Lord I feel it; prone to leave the
God I love; here’s my heart, oh take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.”
Forgive us Oh God for being so opinionated and proud; we have made up our minds so don’t confuse us
with the facts; so often its “our way or the highway”; make us more like Jesus who was “full of grace and
truth”; we want our own way and do everything in our power to escape Your authority in our lives; as a
nation we have become bent on our disobedient and destructive path; please forgive our disobedience!”
The modern church has become overconfident and ostentatious; like the Laodicean church we feel that
“we need nothing and we fail to see ourselves as we really are “wretched and miserable and poor and
blind and naked” (Revelation 3:17); Oh God we beg for mercy and confess our failure to fear and honor
You as we should; Oh Father we bow down and worship You and confess our proud and arrogant attitude
and humbly submit our wills to Your will”; Please take our lives and let them be consecrated Lord to thee,
take our hands and let them move, at the impulse of Your love.”
What other “O” words describe our waywardness and our bent toward sinning?
Thanksgiving – Oh Father we offer You grateful hearts as we recount our blessings – Psalm 145
Adoration – Father you deserve our highest praise and worship and we bring it to You today!
Your name Hashem is translated “The Name” and I Kings 8:29 reminds us that Solomon’s temple in
Jerusalem is where You said, “My Name shall be there” and that “You will hear the prayer of Your
servants.”
Holy Father, peace is a word that describes Your person and character; it does not mean You are weak;
Paul says in Romans 16:20 that “the God of peace shall bruise Satan under His feet.” The writer of
Hebrews also says, “the God of peace and brought back Jesus from the dead. So warfare with Satan and
the resurrection of Christ was brought about by Your peace! What amazing strength is found in Your
peace.
The word patient describes Your deep love for the lost; The Apostle Peter reminds us that You are
“longsuffering to us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (II Peter
3:9). We worship You because You are patient with us Your children; thank you for being so patient.
Another “P” word that describes your character is passionate; Your heart is pursuing lost people on
every continent and You are present in a “holy fire” which displays Your heat and passion; You were
present in the “burning bush” that arrested Moses; Your “consuming fire” fell from heaven at Elijah’s
request and consumed water in the trench, the stones of the altar and the sacrifice demonstrating both
Your passion and presence!
A word that is beyond our imagination is the word perfect; we are blown away by the perfect order you
built in to the created world; there is perfect symmetry in every snowflake that falls; the orbits of the
planets in the universe demand perfect timing; Jesus said in Matthew 5:48, “Therefore we are to be
perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect”; our only hope for perfection is found in the sacrifice of the
perfect lamb of God!
Powerful is a word that describes You God; Moses reminded the Israelites how God delivered them and
“brought them forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand” (Exodus 32:11).
That power was evidenced in the work of Christ on the cross; In Acts 8:10 this power was seen in works
of the Apostle Paul; that same power is now embodied in the gospel which Paul says, “is the power of
God unto salvation”; we worship You oh God for having the power to change our lives through the
Gospel of Christ.
What other “P” words help describe our magnificent and holy God?
Confession – when we confess our sins You are faithful to forgive us and cleanse us!
Father we confess that as Americans we are often proud and arrogant people; we understand that
“pride goes before destruction and an haughty spirit before a fall;” please forgive us of our pride and
arrogance.
Dear Lord please forgive us for the empty platitudes that we speak when like Jesus said, “you honor Me
with your lips but your hearts are far from Me” (Mark 7:6); please help us be sure our walk matches our
talk!
Dear Jesus, many Christians in America are focused on pleasure and recreation rather than on You;
please forgive our pleasure-seeking propensity and help us focus on Your Word and Your Great
Commission!
Father we understand the promiscuous way in which many in our culture are living is in direct rebellion
to Your will and Your way; like Paul says, “we were once dead in our trespasses and sins and walked
according to this world” and “lived in the lusts of our flesh” and “were by nature children of wrath” but
we have been made alive together with Christ” (Ephesians 2:1-5); Oh Lord we ask for your forgiveness
and cleansing!
As a nation we have procrastinated and put off obedience to Your ways and have gone after a profane
way of life! Some of our national leaders have condoned a perverted way of living and have patronized
the rich and famous at the expense of righteousness. Solomon reminds us that “righteousness exalts a
nation but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34); please forgive us for our sinful patterns and
lifestyles.
Oh God, Christians have in many cases become passive and unwilling to stand for Biblical principles and
have accepted the push to be politically correct instead of Biblically pure; please forgive us dear God!
Give believers in our churches and in our country the strength to stand for truth and righteousness!
What other “P” words speak of the sinful propensities of our current culture?
Thanksgiving – Lord we are truly in awe of ways You pour out Your love and care for us! Psalm 34
